How to view your stats
If you have never seen web site stats before and
don't know where to find them ask your web site
hosting company for help. Some hosting packages
are set up with a free, easy to use web based stat
program which you can access online by typing in
a password. Other hosting packages will produce
data as raw log files. These need to be analysed
using stat analysis software. Ask them if they
can do this for you. If not, we can do it at a
small charge click here to contact us for more
information.
If there is no stat information available on your
site, it is possible to add tracking code to your
pages to measure the traffic to your site. This
is the most effective way of tracking your visitors,
and is very easy and inexpensive to set up. Please
contact us for prices.
What to look for in your stats
Look at the number of 'unique visits' to get an
accurate picture of how many people are visiting
your site each month. This is different to the
number of hits which counts every image and page
a visitor views as one hit.
Keep it simple. Look for traffic trends - has
it gone up or down over the last few months
or is
it fairly consistent? Are there any times of
year traffic dramatically changes?
Where are your visitors coming from? If you only
sell to UK customers, and the majority of your
traffic is from the US, this could be the reason
no one is buying your product. If you want help
promoting your site to UK customers click here
to contact us.
How do visitors navigate through your site? Are
there any pages which lots of visitors leave
on? If so think about reworking this page to
drive
customers forward - where do you want them to
go from here? Use words to carry them to the
next
page.
For more detailed help, ask us to analyse your
stats - or set up visitor tracking on your site.
And once we've analysed the traffic patterns
of your visitors, we can work with you to put
solutions
in place, making a measurable improvement to
the performance of your web site.
